Fri., Feb. 26th - Science, God and Society: A Revolutionary Search for
Spiritual Meaning in a Digital World. Scientists are
probing deeper into the mysteries of life in search for answers to complex
questions of human existence. This forum will explore contemporary thinking
about God and African liberation juxtaposed with an emerging post-human
technological future. 7PM.
Fri., March 19th - Economic Development in the Pan African Community.
Businesses and organizations that appear in the Kwanzaa
calendar are invited to come and tell us how they serve our community and
discuss their plans to grow and improve. We will also discuss how we might help
to improve support for each other’s business as well as Black businesses in
general. 7PM.
Fri., April 16th and Sat. April 17th - Back to Africa Projects. UBC will
present its annual update on projects being conducted by individuals and
organizations
in our community on the continent of Africa. This forum is designed to make us
aware of these projects and increase
support for these efforts. 7PM.
Sat., May 22, Kuzaliwa 2010. Each year UBC honors Brother Malcolm X by
holding a day-long conference on the Saturday closest to the day of his birth
(May 19th) on an important issue in our community. This
year we will look at the state of the relationship between the four major groups
of peoples of African descent in our community: African Americans, African
Caribbeans, African Latinos and Africans born on the continent, with an eye
toward ways to enhance Pan Africanism in our community. 1PM until.
Fri., June 25th - The Role of African Spirituality in our Progress Towards
Liberation. This discussion will focus on the
important role that traditional African spiritual practices can play in our
liberation struggle. 7PM.

Fri., Aug 27th - Mortality and Morbidity in the Black Community (Part 2).
This health discussion is designed to focus on the causes
and remedies of those things that are killing Black people. This year we are
going to review last year’s discussion and take a closer look at three primary
factors: obesity, heart disease and stroke. In addition, we will make plans to
distribute health information to the community. 7PM.
Fri., Sep 24th - A Look at the Development of Progressive Black Music by Way of
a Tribute to John Coltrane. This annual event features
a look at the development of inspirational Black music and its impact on the
liberation movement through a musical journey through the life of the one of its
most influential proponents, brother John Coltrane. 7PM.
Fri., Oct 15th - Remembering and Reviewing the Million Man March on its 15th
Anniversary. We will take a retrospective look at the
Million Man March in a town hall meeting. We will attempt to evaluate the legacy
of one of the most significant gatherings of Black men ever organized. 7PM.
